The Structure Of Success - Structural Engineers London

Ritzi Structural Engineering Consultants Ltd provide tailored structural engineering solutions on time and within budget. Following the firm’s well-deserved success in the Greater London Enterprise Awards 2020, we got in touch with Nick to find out more about some of the most trusted structural engineers in London.

With a considerable amount of experience under its belt, Ritzi Structural Engineering Consultants Ltd is able to offer clients a wide range of services across the structural engineering field. To start, Nick gives us a brief overview of the firm and offers more

insight into its clientele. “As an established practice we provide solutions for residential extensions, loft space and basement conversions as well as new builds for domestic clients. Naturally, our expertise derives from several years of combined experience in the domestic sector, which reassures clients our structural solutions are safe and cost-effective.

Using our strengths in project management and structural surveys, we are able to develop a structural design calculation package in addition to technical drawings and specifications ready for approval.”

Across the city of London the firm are in direct competition with several other structural

engineering players, however as Nick goes on to explain, its commitment to innovation and expert knowledge has enabled the firm to distance itself from the crowd.

“By using the latest technology available we are able to transform the way we design, plan,

construct and operate buildings. From a knock through an internal load-bearing wall for your open plan layout to large-scale remodelling of an existing building or new build structure, Ritzi provide expert design knowledge and advise on where costs can be saved without compromising on quality or structural integrity.” Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach, the team address each project individually in order to focus on what’s most

important to the client. “Here at Ritzi, we have extensive experience in designing complex structures, driving value from originality” Nick highlights. “Valuing the need to treat each project separately, we employ a highly collaborative approach to help turn our customers dreams into reality.

Through strong client relationships and a thorough understanding of your current situation

and long-term aspirations, we will help make the development process of your asset easier by providing clear and tailored advice you can trust. Whatever stage you’re at in your project, we will help you get the most out of your scheme by reducing the construction cost with reliable solutions.”

If we take a closer look at the industry, the new permitted development rights are set to change the building scenery in London as Nick elaborates further.

“Starting from the end of August 2020, a brand new permitted development right was introduced to allow homeowners to build additional storeys to an existing dwelling consisting of at least two storeys, or an additional storey when the existing dwelling is already one storey. However, the permitted development rights do not apply to buildings converted from commercial to residential, installations in conservation areas or when the existing house has already been enlarged under permitted development or otherwise by an additional storey.”

Finally, Nick discusses the main benefits of the firm’s location before outlining some of its plans for the coming year and beyond. “With offices in London, we can ensure that our engineers will make regular visits to monitor safety on site and we will liaise with local authorities and other consultants for technical queries.

“The residential sector is predominately existing period properties that require altering to meet 21st century needs. Moving forward, to achieve the architectural challenges we will continue with BIM modelling in small scale projects to avoid costly modifications during construction. Beyond this, we will combine the knowledge derived from old school practices with today’s innovative tools to continue delivering structures that are functional and aesthetically pleasing.”
